Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) is open around the clock, and it has become one of the better Chinese airports for an overnight wait. You can choose between free rest areas with recliners, pay per use nap cabins, and a full transit hotel inside the terminal. This guide covers every Beijing Daxing airport sleeping option, the prices, and the one thing international transit passengers need to plan for.
Free rest areas and recliners
PKX has 14 free rest areas fitted with seats, recliners and sofas, and the airport runs designated free overnight resting zones near boarding gates A11, B20, B36, C40, C55 and D63. In 2025 the airport upgraded these overnight services, and you can now ask at any rest area for a free overnight kit that includes an eye mask, a blanket and an inflatable pillow. There are also 373 massage chairs spread across the terminal if you only want to recline for a while.
The gate benches do have armrests, and the halls stay brightly lit through the night, so if you plan to sleep on a bench, bring an eye mask and earplugs. The airport does not hand out cots, so anything you need for comfort is worth packing in your cabin bag.
Sleeping pods and pay per use rest
If you want privacy without booking a full room, there are private NapHubs cabins in the International Arrivals Hall on the first floor. For a cheaper option, the affordable rest areas in concourses A, B and D start from about 20 yuan, which buys you a quiet seat away from the main flow of passengers. Both are a good middle ground when a bench is too uncomfortable but a hotel room is more than you need.
Aerotel: the hotel inside the terminal
PKX has a genuine hotel inside the building, the Aerotel Beijing Daxing, spread over the first and second floors of the northeast pier. It is the largest in airport hotel in China. Reception is open 24 hours, so you can walk in and book at any time or reserve online in advance, with a minimum stay of three hours.
Rooms are sold by the hour as well as overnight, which suits a layover well. Approximate rates are:
- 30 minutes: 35 RMB
- 1 hour: 60 RMB
- 90 minutes: 95 RMB
- 2 hours: 125 RMB
- 3 hours: 185 RMB
- Overnight: 333 RMB
One important detail: the Aerotel sits landside, in the publicly accessible area before security and immigration. International transit passengers who have not cleared immigration cannot reach it, which is the catch explained next.
Sleeping on a layover: airside or landside
This is the part that matters most for connecting passengers. The free rest zones, the gate benches and the NapHubs cabins are inside the secure transit area, but the Aerotel hotel is landside, before security and immigration.
- If you are an international transit passenger who has not entered China, you stay airside and rest in the free zones, on a recliner or on a gate bench.
- If your layover is long and you qualify for China's 240 hour visa free transit, you can clear immigration and book the Aerotel, or a hotel near the airport such as the Mumian about 300 metres away.
- On a domestic connection you are already landside between flights, so the Aerotel and the paid rest areas are easy to reach.
Tips for an overnight at PKX
- Pick a quiet gate: the designated overnight zones near gates A11, B20, B36, C40, C55 and D63 are calmer than the central hall.
- Bring or request an eye mask and earplugs, since the lights stay on all night.
- Keep your bag strapped to you or under you while you sleep, and set an alarm for your flight.
- For a longer rest, the hourly Aerotel rooms or the NapHubs cabins are worth the modest cost.
- Check your gate before you settle in, since gates can be a long walk apart at a terminal this size.
