XiamenAir is China's oldest airline organised on commercial lines rather than as a CAAC division, founded in 1984, and it has the rare distinction of never having posted an annual loss for more than three decades. It is majority-owned by China Southern but joined SkyTeam separately in 2012 and kept its own identity.
The airline runs an all-Boeing fleet and a conservative, punctuality-focused operation out of Fujian province. Its Beijing flying moved to Daxing with the airport's opening.

Roughly twenty routes from PKX, weighted towards Fujian and the southeast — Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Wuyishan, Sanming, Liancheng — which together make it the natural choice for that corner of China. Doha and Vientiane are the international pair. The Xiamen route is the busiest and runs multiple times daily.

Planning your trip
At Beijing Daxing, Xiamen Airlines checks in at Departures level 4. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure on domestic flights and 45 minutes before departure on international ones — Daxing is a large building, and the walk from check-in to a far gate is a real part of your timing.

- Wuyishan and Liancheng are served by few other carriers from Beijing — useful for the tea-country trip.
- Its Doha flight connects into Qatar Airways' network, but on separate tickets unless booked as one itinerary.
