About Himalaya Airlines
Himalaya Airlines is a Nepal–China joint venture, set up in 2014 between Nepal's Yeti World Investment and Tibet Airlines, and based at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. It flies Airbus A320-family aircraft on a network focused on China, the Gulf and South Asia.
The Chinese shareholding is the reason its route map is unusually China-heavy for a Nepali carrier, and why it holds slots at mainland airports that other Kathmandu-based airlines do not.

Kathmandu from Daxing, a roughly six-hour sector across the Tibetan plateau. It is one of the few direct links between the Chinese capital and Nepal, and it carries a mix of trekking traffic, Nepali workers and business travel. Demand peaks either side of the monsoon, in spring and autumn.

Planning your trip
At Beijing Daxing, Himalaya Airlines checks in at Level 4 departures (international). Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure on domestic flights and 45 minutes before departure on international ones — Daxing is a large building, and the walk from check-in to a far gate is a real part of your timing.
- Nepal issues visas on arrival for most nationalities, but bring the fee in cash and a passport photo to save time.
- Kathmandu's approach is through mountains and the airport closes in poor visibility — morning flights are less prone to delay.
- Trekking season is March–May and October–November; seats and Kathmandu hotels are tight in those months.
